How many different "rules" do Jehovah's Witnesses have to obey? Can you count them?
by Balaamsass2 inall the big changes for jws since this last fall brought me back to this site, and got me and the wife talking.
just how many things were we not allowed to do growing up as jehovah's witnesses?
we were so used to all the rules, customs, and traditions, that we became used to them.. one site i found claims there are 141 unique rules!!

The epicenter of Friday’s metro-area quake was around Watchtower's former Mountain Farm in Lebanon, NJ
by was a new boy in'the epicenter of friday’s metro-area quake was around the sleepy, tiny, agricultural town of lebanon, nj — where the temblor sent residents running home from work to check their houses and loved ones.. the us geological survey confirmed that the rare historic 4.8 earthquake struck around 10.23 a.m. near the small borough in hunterdon county — just a stone’s throw from donald trump’s national golf club in bedminster, where a 2.0 magnitude aftershock was felt shortly after.. the incident caused buildings to shake everywhere from the big apple to pennsylvania, connecticut and delaware.. “i was working from my home office in town, and everything started falling off the shelves,” lebanon mayor james pittinger told the post.
“i felt a shake like i’ve never felt in the 30 years i’ve lived here.. “it was one of the craziest things i’ve ever experienced.”.

Test case for the new light. My bet is the old dark clouds are still present blocking it.
The natural progression is moving into marriage.
Knowing a health problem is over half the battle.

The TWO new things to come this year for J.W Org !
by Phizzy inwhile having my first strong black coffee of the day, i was thinking about what may be to come next as the org.
rapidly goes mainstream, and this is what i came up with :.
1) they will introduce for sunday, the after meeting fellowship, a time for just chatting but with the added bonus of coffee and snacks.

Closest is the hospitality for the speaker mess.
Kingdom halls don't have a kitchen or even an extra room either. Add in the need to vacate for the next Bunch. The bookstudy used to have enjoyable after meeting snacks. The McD after service has fallen off too.

JW Expanded Volunteer Activities?
by doinmypart ini think the gb needs to expand publishers' volunteer activities beyond door knocking.. gb has shifted away from door-knocking to more varied forms of witnessing and no longer counting time for publishers.
my prediction is that the gb will start encouraging jws to participate in broader community volunteer efforts: clean-up drives, food banks, senior citizen support, and other non-proselytizing activities.
this move could help them gain goodwill with government agencies and the public.. expanding volunteer activities could significantly shift how jws are perceived by the wider community.

Maybe (needed) outreach to elderly members. Other activities open friendship with "worldly(tm)" dangerous people.

If the org. Is being advised by consultants, is a name change in the works?
by nowwhat? inlet's be honest, there's a stigma to the name jehovah's witness.
if they are going more mainstream.
i imagine the first recommendation was a name change.

"This " didn't offer much, read almost like a whodunit story. Made up.
Drop jehovah and the prayers will not be possible.
I bet on elderettes and meeting format change.
The biggie is still 1914; the story gas to morph

Ron. Pretty pointed midweek announcements clothing will not change. That means a poly car salesman suit is ok but not a harris tweed and sweater. Sisters had skirts that nearly dragged the floor.
Other part was to the affect "we are still the elders and run the show" do not do more than mention meeting to a df relative.
Lastly the beards are a disaster. 90% grew one but only 20% know how to trim.
As soon as wife and elderly brother are gone I'm out of here

Beards vs. Shunning announcements
by slimboyfat induring lett’s announcement that beards are now allowed he elaborated at some length how brothers ought to feel and react to the change in policy.
he warned brothers not to resent not being able to grow beards earlier if they had wished to do so.
he also warned brothers who supported the old policy not to allow themselves to wonder what the point of doing so was now that it has changed.

Beards are a mess right now. Ties and pants suits will be "not local custom " like the older beard article.
My DF family still remembers the meanness, self righteousness, double standards, and pettiness. I do not blame them for staying away and being bitter. If they ask I don't know addresses and may ask them why they don't come at 11pm like the original committee did. (Really did)
